RED CARPET WOW: The 2010 Met Ball

All the stars were out for the annual Met Ball at Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. Actors, designers, models, and celebrities were there in celebration of the newest exhibit at the museum, "American Woman: Fashioning a National Identity." This year's ball was hosted by none other than Oprah Winfrey and Anna Wintour and brought out a host of incredible gowns and.....some...not so incredible gowns.

Let's take a look at the good, the bad, and the ugly:

CASSIE

Cassie is hands down my favorite of the night. She looks absolutely DIVINE in this blue Versace frock and blue and black Sergio Rossi heels. I was adamant about not liking her choice of hair color and one-side shaven cut, but it totally works here. Not to mention, she's naturally gorgeous and her makeup is always on point!

TREND: Draping

We all know leather jackets and blazers are very popular now, but several designers are experimenting with the conventional silhouette and bringing waterfalls, laser cuts, and extreme draped looks to these jackets. Oh yes! And let's not forget shoulders...shoulders are still in effect.

For the upcoming seasons, I'm seeing a lot of emphasis on draping fabrics effortlessly on the body and I.LOVE.IT. Designers are taking heavier fabrics such as leather and suede and making them bend, fold, and fall along the body in soft curves that flatter any body type. The result is amazing!! Now, we all know I focus main on shoe game, but I couldn't help myself!! I HAVE to keep you all in the fashion know. Take a look below:

Even dresses are much softer this season. Rachel Roy seems to be particularly attracted to this aesthetic.

SHOE LOOK OF THE WEEK: Zoe Saldana

Actress Zoe Saldana SHUT.IT.DOWN. in Cesare Paciotti Sandal Booties from the 2010 Spring/Summer collection at the premiere of her latest movie, "The Losers" April 20, 2010. She is also wearing a dress from Balmain's Fall 2010 RTW collection.

4 THE MEN: Raf Simons

If there ever was such a thing as a high fashion sneaker, Raf Simons would definately be the creator. These sneakers are not for the conventional man but for the man who knows fashion and who aims to make an exciting statement when he enters the room. You'll have others trying to figure out what brand you're wearing. But....you don't have to tell them...it'll be our little secret! ;-)

Raf Simmons kicks off his Spring 2010/Summer Collection with these high top sneakers which include velro straps and multiple buckles. They've already been seen on the feet of
Diddy, Kanye West and Usher.

Diddy was seen wearing the Raf Simons Astronaut Mix Boots in L.A. recently. These shoes feature black and white leather with a velcro strap top piece that can be worn either across the shoe or bent backwards behind the shoe. Or you can just wear it open for a casual effect like Diddy does below.

These shoes retail at $810.00 and are sold out everywhere on line. However, you can purchase other style of Raf Simons shoes at Forward By Revolve, Barneys New York, and ASOS.

SHOE-SATIONAL: JIMMY CHOO ZAPPA SANDALS

You want to make a lasting impression on every room you enter and exit? Try these Jimmy Choo Zappa Sandals! Retailing at $2,495.00, these pretty babies have a non-rechargeable battery that lights up the neon-pink, white and black lucite platform, a neon-yellow, black and white lucite heel, an open toe, suede straps and a back zip fastening. The battery is non-replaceable and will last for approximately 100 hours of constant, continuous use. I don't think anyone would be wearing these 5 inch heels for anywhere close to 100 hours of constant use, so you could probably get a lot of usage out of these.

They've caught the eyes of rapper Nicki Minaj and young mogul and fashionista, Angela Simmons. Nicki wore them on a recent appearance and Angela tried them on a recent trip to NYC. They took to Twitter to show them off. If these are in your price range, you can purchase them at Net-A-Porter.com.

TREND: Wedge Heels

I have a love/hate relationship with several fashion items and wedge heels happen to be one of them. I stand at 5' 3" barefoot so you think I would be in love with the shoes that make you look like you're walking on stilts but I digress! IDK, to me, they have the ability to make your foot look extremely big! If you are anything above a size 9, I would simply stay clear.

For spring, I'm seeing some gorgeous wedges, chunkier than ever, edgier than ever, and of course as TALL AS EVER. Let's take a look shall we!

You can wear wedges with just about anything. Wear them with a with a spring dress and cardigan for a cute, soft look. You can also edge them up leather jackets and dark denim. Check it out!
